Fashion Talk: To Wear or Not to Wear Red Pants
It’s an age-old question: to wear or not to wear? (Okay, so maybe I changed it up a little.) Every year we see trend upon trend pop off of the runways or out of the fashion capitals for their moment in the limelight. Some are gone with the blink of an eye, others fade out with the season, and a select few have staying power that will carry them through season after season. They defy all odds and survive the transition from runway to boutique to department store, from size zero super models to the curvier everyday woman. However, just because they become “mainstream” fashion does not necessarily qualify them as something that all women can don with pride. I am here today with a question surely plaguing the minds of many fashionistas today: can I wear red pants?
I’ve been hashing this out in my mind for months, a real internal battle. I’ve stood on the front lines in fitting room after fitting room, with different shades and shapes, trying to find the answer. And, honestly, I think I know what’s holding me back: red lips. Though they differ by only two letters, red lips and red legs are very different things. But we’ve all seen and mourned the girl who fell victim to the belief that red lips are glamorous on everyone in every setting and I don’t want to be her red-legged counterpart.
So help me out, ladies! Are there limits to who can rock the red pants? (more…)
